Guam - Governor Eddie Calvo has appointed Alice Taijeron as a Democratic member of the Guam Election Commission based off the recommendation by the Democratic Party of Guam. The term is set to expire on January 18, 2014.

The appointment was formally addressed in a letter to the GEC on Wednesday. Taijeron was not present at the reconvened GEC meeting Thursday evening set to focus strictly on the agency's Fiscal Year 2014 budget proposal.

Taijeron replaces former commissioner Chris Carillo who resigned this month after an arrest on drug charges.
