Guam - With over two years in construction, the Department of Public Works finally held a ribbon cutting ceremony this morning for the completion of the resurfacing and widening project of Route 17 in Yona. DPW director Carl Dominguez says the project was actually completed last month with final cost reaching close to $6,000,000.

"This is one hundred percent completed, we have two nice lanes and the shoulders, we have four new ponding basins for storm water mitigation and then we also have some new guard rails," said Dominguez. He adds the major delays were caused by the discovery of unknown utility lines within the road that needed to be relocated along with identifying the right asphalt formula to meet federal highway specifications.
