Guam - For the last ten years Japanese students looking to become school teachers put their skills to the test in a Guam public school classroom. Today, 80 university-aged Japanese students did just that at Agana Heights Elementary.

PTO president Mark Mendiola says all of today's visitors are looking to become elementary school teachers and today's experience is valuable practice.  "It gives the students from the different universities in Japan to come to Guam to kind of teach some lessons in the classroom. And then in addition to them they get to take that material back with them to Japan, then they invite the students from Guam with a chaperon to visit their university. So it gives the opportunity to be exposed to that type of cultural exchange."

Senator Mike San Nicolas presented a resolution to the school for helping to strengthen cultural understanding and appreciation between Guam and our Japanese neighbors.
