Guam - The Consolidated Commission on Utilities is set to discuss the Guam Power Authority's base rate adjustment that could result in about a $6 increase in your power bill. Chairman Simon Sanchez says from 2009 to Fiscal Year 2014, there's been a series of base rate adjustments designed to help pay for the 2010 bond that GPA floated to pay for upgrades and new facilities.
He says the base rate increase is for around 3.6% on the total bill and should last until 2018. "We're encouraged that if this is the last piece of a puzzle that we started in 2009 and it's the last one, and if helps GPA stabilize financially and puts in a position to not need another base rate increase for four or five years, that's something we would consider."
