Guam - Those looking to open a charter school in the future will have more guidance thanks to a collaboration of Government of Guam regulatory agencies. Senator Aline Yamashita says she's been meeting agencies, including the Department of Public Works, the Guam Fire Department, Public Health, and the Guam Environmental Protection Agency to map-out the process of opening a school.
"We met with them and we drilled down who the people are how much time you would need to get attention what the standards are so we have a beginning document for what that looks like," she said.
It was over two years ago the Guam Charter School Council approved the application for Guahan Academy Charter School to open doors, but the school has yet to do so due to a lack of location.
Yamashita says she'll continue to work with these agencies so charter schools can succeed.
