Guam - For the past 97 years, the Guam Chapter of the American Red Cross has provided disaster and assistance to families whose lives were devastated after typhoons and other natural disasters. And in honor of the community heroes who selflessly volunteer their time and provide countless contributions, Governor Eddie Calvo proclaimed March as American Red Cross Month.

Guam ARC board chairman Marcos Fong said, "We haven't had - thankfully - any large disasters but our staff and our volunteers have been busy everyday battling everyday disasters from floods, fires and low profile disasters that don't always make the news but they are very important part of our mission, so we're very happy to be a part of that and helping the community in that."

Close to 50 volunteers along with the beneficiaries of the Red Cross' donations were present during this morning's proclamation signing.
