Guam - The family of Cameron Masnayon are concerned about the way the Attorney General's Office handled his assault case. For the last year, Masnayon has undergone numerous surgeries and therapy for traumatic brain injuries among others he sustained when beaten last year in Harmon. The three assailants, Daniel and Michael Rosal and William San Nicolas all cut deals with the prosecution.

But according to Masnayon's mother, Barbara Tayama, they were never consulted about allowing one of the defendants to plead guilty to misdemeanor assault. Additionally she states that her son was never interviewed by the AG's Office even as the case against her son's attackers was being prepped for trial. Tayama also expressed concerns about what she referred to "a certain level of unprofessionalism and lack of confidence with their representation" adding the AG's Office never bothered to interview the doctors who worked on her son to corroborate the extent of injuries to sustain the attempted murder charges. She went on to say she believes the AG's Office and the legal system lacked compassion for what happened to her son. Tayama also expressed concerns that GPD did not take photos of the injuries her son sustained and that the Rosal brothers gave conflicting statements during a re-enactment of the attack. She adds that she and her son have learned how to forgive but don't condone what was done as an end result.

Tayama also expressed concerns about what she referred to "a certain level of unprofessionalism and lack of confidence with their representation". Attorney General Leonardo Rapadas is scheduled to meet with the Masnayon family tomorrow to discuss their concerns and is withholding comment until after the meeting.
