Guam - The Democratic Party of Guam Acting Chairman and Treasurer Carlos Pangelinan confirms that Carlo Branch resigned on Monday from his position as the party's Executive Director. Pangelinan says Branch was planning to resign months ago following former Governor Carl Gutierrez's resignation as Chairman last year because he was running for Public Auditor. Pangelinan said he asked Branch to stay on board following the passing of the late Gloria Nelson who was serving as the Acting Chair after Gutierrez resigned. Pangelinan adds that Branch remains employed at Vice Speaker BJ Cruz office and that his resignation has nothing to do with the investigation into former staffer Chris Carillo who was arrested on drug charges last week. Carillo we should note is Branch's roommate.

According to Pangelinan he is consulting with key members of the Democratic Party of Guam to appoint a nominating committee pursuant to their bylaws. He adds the Committee will plan for and conduct an election.The following officer positions need to be filled within the Democratic Party of Guam:

Chairperson: Vacant

Vice Chair: Vacant

Julie Mayo: Secretary

Carlos Pangelinan: Treasurer

Executive Director: Vacant (chosen by the Chairperson)
