Guam - The island is preparing to say goodbye to 600 National Guard members, the largest deployment in the island's history. And remarkably, the Evangelista family is preparing to sendoff three of their own.

At Ladera Towers in Mangilao the Evangelista family gathered to bid farewell to three members of their family who are part of the 600 deploying to the Middle East. 11th Bravo Infantry Specialist John Evangelista and Sergeant Cleon Huskinson are brothers-in-law. SPC Evangelista told KUAM News that he's prepared, saying, "I knew this way ahead of time, so I prepared myself physically and mentally. Can't say this is nothing new, it's a new place for me." And Huskinson added, "My family is excited for me very proud of me got a lot of support both in-laws and immediate."

This is the second deployment for Evangelista and Huskinson, but saying goodbye is never easy. "Their sad, they don't want me to go but they know this is the price I have to, I have to give back so they are as prepared as they can be," said Evangelista.

But for their mom Priscilla, you can never be fully prepared. "Yes, I am proud - but I'm sad now just to hear them leaving it is hard," she said.

The third member of the Evangelista family is Staff Sergeant Ray Jay Aromin, who unfortunately we were unable to interview because he was welcoming the birth of his newest daughter - one that he will have to say goodbye too this weekend.
