Guam - The Committee on Regulatory Concerns will be holding an oversight hearing Friday morning with the Department of Revenue & Taxation. Oversight chair Senator Michael San Nicolas says he hopes to address matters on collections specifically with accounts receivable, property taxes and gross receipt taxes along with updates on filling vacancies and pending appointments for several boards and commissions.

He said, "But what we want to do is the kind of senator that I am, I want to establish a baseline and talk about progress and how we can make it better, so we're not looking to point any fingers, or cast any blame, but we are looking to establish that baseline so we can start improving that agency's function."

Earlier this year San Nicolas' committee identified $169 million in uncollected taxes going back over a decade. The senator says he also wants to address improving customer service from reducing the lines and wait times to online services.

The hearing is set for 9:30 in the morning in the Public Hearing Room downtown.
