The Guam Environmental Protection Agency is getting an early start in preparing for this year's Earth Day 2013 Activities which normally occurs in April. This year's theme is "For the Love of Guam".

The agency announced the following contests to commemorate the annual event.

- Model your Watershed Contest for elementary school students

- Comic Creation Contest for middle, high, and college students as well as community members

- Young Reporters Contest for middle, high and college students

- Hike for a Day Contest for all ages

- Environmental Stewardship Contest for high school, college, community and business groups.

"The Environmental Education Committee has created contests for every age level and ability with the hope that any resident who would like to participate in Earth Day 2013 can do so through a contest," said Guam EPA Administrator Eric Palacios. "We are very excited to see our community participate in these contests and raise the level of understanding and appreciation for natural resources."

Each contest entry form can be found at epa.guam.gov or at Guam EPA's main office in Tiyan. Forms can also be sent electronically by emailing TammyJoAnderson.Taft@epa.guam.gov.
