Guam - Efforts continue to raise money for the Guam Visitors Bureau's 2/12 Memorial Fund to provide financial assistance to the victims of the tragedy in Tumon. Since the shocking events the island community has offered their heartfelt condolences to the victims. As well several memorials and vigils have been held including a fundraiser that was hosted by the Governor's Office this afternoon at the Seafood Chef Restaurant in Tamuning.

Restaurant manager Yonju Choe said, "It's for the victims family of that horrible tragedy that occurred on February 12. This is something that the Governor's Office approached us and we are part of and honored to be a part of such a great charity."

The $20 luncheon had a good turnout and within fifteen minutes of its start made an estimated $720. "Mr. and Mrs. Min, who own the Seafood Chef, graciously provided the venue and all the food that is necessary, so 100 percent of proceeds that come in for this fundraiser will go to the victims and of course to try to defray the costs that are associated with the tragedy on February 12," explained Lieutenant Governor Ray Tenorio.

Island dignitaries and various agencies came to show their support and contribute to the cause. Tenorio added, "This entire community has come together behind the victims who suffered tragically for no reason. And we will bring those people justice and I have written and the governor has indicated we all need to pray about it because ultimately we all need to come together to heal from this."

Tenorio added that the Calvo Administration is here to support the victims and acknowledged that "the people of Guam want to make sure that they know our hearts are with them".
