Guam - Legislation was introduced today that would increase the technological footprint in our classrooms. Senators Brant McCreadie and Aline Yamashita introduced Bill 51, also known as "Kindle-garten" that would direct the Department of Education to establish an education technology pilot program in public elementary schools.

McCreadie told KUAM News, "And hopefully we integrate that and we make learning a little funner; the technology course is changing everyday and I just think that we need to keep up with the changing times."

The freshman policymaker says the bill will initially be carried out in kindergarten classes at three public schools issuing each student an e-book reader or comparable devise that would serve as a supplement to standard textbooks. McCreadie says he has written Governor Eddie Calvo to help with a funding source from Compact impact.

It was in his State of the Island Address when Calvo said he would request to use $3 million in such funding for computers for students.
