Guam - Thousands of Guam residents serve in the armed forces to defend our nation and island but some never return home. From World War II to the present Operation Enduring Freedom, family members gathered today at the Guam Legislature to receive The Medal of Ultimate Sacrifice on behalf of their loved ones.

Among them, Jayne Petree honored her daughter, 19-year-old Jaysine, who was killed in 2010 while serving in Afghanistan. "She's a loving daughter. She always thinks of me. She don't really want to go out. I pushed her to go out with her friends but she wanted to stay at home and take care of the siblings and cousins. Help them do their homework and she helps me a lot at the house that's why I miss her so much," she said.

158 service members like Jaysine are eligible for this recognition.
