Guam - A special tribute to the victims of the Tumon tragedy will be held at John F. Kennedy High School this evening. At 6:30 tonight, the Chamorro Department at JFK and the Islander community students to commemorate the victims of February 12 pulled unite through a special presentation.

JFK High School Chamorro teacher and PTSA president Senot Greg Sablan said, "Hopefully sending out a positive message to the island and the rest of the world that sometimes there are issues that man cannot handle alone so maybe we may seek something beyond what we can handle like spiritual assistance."

The Chamorro Department and JFK students to commemorate the victims are calling on our island's roots and ancestors tonight's tribute will showcase one traditional chant and two songs. Chamorro teacher Senot Brian Terlaje said, "It's invoking the spirits of our people the spirits of our particular ancestors to just bless the occasion and just be at peace with us and at one with us giving us a sense of direction."

The Chamorro teachers hope that the youth gain a sense of courage and compassion for our island and our visitors. As well as leaving with a feeling of togetherness through the tragic event. In trying to impart a respect of differences and similarities Senot Terlaje hopes students, "Also gain a sense of reconciliation and gain a sense of forgiveness and know that we are not the only ones experiencing difficulties in our communities we share it with the rest of the world."

Ultimately wanting to come together as one in order to continue on a path towards recovery the JFK Chamorro Department and students invite the public, parents, and island dignitaries to join in on the special tribute tonight at 6:30pm at the JFK cafeteria in Upper Tumon.
