Guam - The Guam Police Department currently has ten working cars to patrol the entire island. Another ten cars are waiting for various repairs that would cost an estimated $40,000.  But without funding those cars are sitting idle.

Senator Brant McCreadie is calling on his colleagues to help provide funding for GPD, by appropriating at least $40,000 in lapsed legislative funds to pay for the repair of the patrol vehicles. "This is a band-aid solution, but it's an immediate solution," he explained. "And I think we need to look at what we're going to do for the police department today. This is not about recognition, but it's about recognizing that this state of this island when it comes to public safety and the police department should be at the utmost of importance."

McCreadie says re-appropriating the funds is just one of the many steps that need to be taken to improve the state of public safety on Guam and get the ten cars working again to patrol the streets. He adds there are 32 police cars that aren't working.
