By KUAM NewsGuam - KSPN2 News in Saipan is reporting that its not the first time former DOI Assistant Secretary for Insular Affairs Tony Babauta has been under investigation. Newly obtained documents indicate that Babauta was the subject of a DOI inspector general investigation in 2011. At that time he was investigated for allegations that he engaged in wasteful spending of government money, KSPN2 reports that the complaint also implied he was having an improper romantic relationship with a staffer. Babauta and the staffer denied the allegations and the investigation was closed. The current OIG investigation is still pending.
