Guam - Following their visit to the Guam International Airport Authority earlier this week, officials from Standard & Poor's paid a visit to the island's utility companies. Consolidated Commission on Utilities chairman Simon Sanchez tells KUAM News that S&P visited the Guam Power Authority and the Guam Waterworks Authority's facilities this morning.

He says GPA has a long relationship with S&P, who they met with last September while at the bond market. He says GPA presented a progress report on several initiatives such as liquid natural gas and fuel issues. He says S&P still sees GPA as a strong utility.

Meanwhile while they haven't rated GWA in many years, Sanchez says today's presentation was a re-introduction and with hopes to one day receive a future investment grade from the ratings giant. Overall he says the meetings went very positive.

S&P officials leave Saturday morning.
