Guam - Things heated up in the kitchen at the Guam Community College today with the Panpacific Prostart Invitational. According to head Prostart judge Chef Kevin Dietrichs, five Japan teams, one Seoul team, and four Guam High School teams faced off to create one appetizer, entrée, and dessert in one hour.
Chef Dietrichs said, "The Prostart program is the high school culinary program it is designed to get high schoolers a leg up moving into the kitchen, so it's designed to get them the basic knowledge they would need to become an entry level cook in any establishment."
Simon Sanchez High School's Macdaniel Dimla, Airen Magday, Angelica Sia and Leyann Lusung won the local title this year and will represent the island in the national competition set for April in Baltimore.
