Guam - Members of the Tokyo Liaison Council for Mother's Congress wrapped up a three-day tour of the island. "A group of women from Tokyo whose major concern is women and children's health, their main focus you can say is how does militarism impact women and children," said coordinator Joseph Certez of the group's itinerary.
The women's activist group visited Guam in an effort to familiarize themselves with our islands women and the stories they have to share in relation to the U.S. military's impact on island. The group is comprised of 37 women ranging in age from 40 years old and above who have knowledge of how Japan and the U.S. military have impacted Japan.
The women are active but peaceful protesters and have rallied in Okinawa and Japan. "They are organizing against the us military bases being in Okinawa and further build up of more military bases in Okinawa. Then in Japan they're main focus was the recent downfall of the nuclear power plant," said Certeza.
The main focus of their tour on island was to build solidarity between Japan, Okinawa and Guam.
