Guam - Vice Speaker BJ Cruz is criticizing the leadership of Guam Memorial Hospital Board Chairperson Lee Webber. Cruz is specifically concerned that GMH has only recently begun the process of procuring close to 200 computers needed for the agency to properly issuing billings. The Vice-Speaker in a letter to Webber said it has been 10 months since the issue was brought to light about the problems the hospital was having with rejected billing caused by a lack of necessary documentation. Cruz contends GMH is losing about $1.5 million because it cannot bill properly. "Under your direction GMH has billing software that continues not to work, money it cannot spend as intended by law, RFPs it cannot execute, and billable dollars it continues to lose. I urge you to exercise your duties in a manner more commensurate with the level of responsibility you hold. A bad year in business means a loss in profits; a bad year at GMH could mean the unnecessary loss of human life," Cruz wrote in his letter to Webber.
