Macy's distributing $3.4M for improper GRT charges
Residents who made a purchase at the Macy's store on Guam will be getting some money back.
Guam - Residents who made a purchase at the Macy's store on Guam will be getting some money back. Pursuant to a class action lawsuit, Macy's is in the process of distributing $3.4 million based on a judgment that was issued last year in Dorothea Quichocho and Merlyna Smith's lawsuit against Macy's department store. According to court records, Macy's was found to have improperly charged gross receipts tax at the cash register between February 2004 and may 2007. Macy's credit card customers have received notices that they will receive credit on their next account statement to reflect the amount of g-r-t paid minus 25% which has been awarded to the plaintiffs' counsel.
