Guam - Governor Eddie Calvo is looking at $3 million in his Fiscal Year 2014 request for use of Compact impact funds for the purchase of laptops and tablets for use at the schools and at home. The funding will be forwarded to the Department of Education where Superintendent Jon Fernandez and his deputies will solicit bids for the greatest number of computers with software aligned with the nationwide common core standards.

Although $3 million may not purchase enough technology for all 31,000 public school children, Calvo believes it's an initial investment that can piloted in several schools.
