GEC handcount finds no major differences
Guam - Just like the two other precincts handcounted a few weeks prior, the Guam Election Commission is finding no major difference in results with precinct 14 from Mongmong-Toto-Maite. GEC executive director Maria Pangelinan says GEC staff completed the handcount of the congressional and gubernatorial race for Precinct 14, which showed a total of 948 total cast ballots.
The team of Calvo-Tenorio received 584, two more votes than the original certified results whereas Gutierrez-Aguon received 337 votes, one less vote than the certified results. The 11-write-in votes, 16-under votes and zero over votes matched from 2010.
"It re-emphasizes that the process is okay," said Pangelinan, adding, "and is it a waste of time, that's not for us to say, what we want to do is we want to take what we have and make it work."
GEC staff spent today handcounting the legislative race and will finish Friday. The GEC will next work on Precinct 15c from Barrigada and Precinct 19b in Yigo.
