Guam - Back from his trip to Honolulu, Hawaii, Guam Department of Education superintendent Jon Fernandez has been tapped to serve as a Commissioner for the Western Association of Schools and Colleges Accrediting Commission for Schools - a first for Guam. Fernandez is one of-32 member commission where he will serve a three year term, which may be renewed.

In a release he says, "I am humbled and honored by this opportunity to represent Guam and our Pacific region on the commission. WASC accreditation can help schools improve the foundation for teaching and learning. I look forward to helping maintain the high standards of the commission and making sure that our schools on Guam are able to exceed those standards."
