Guam - Guam's economy is in stable waters, according to Governor Eddie Calvo speaking before the island's business community at the Guam Chamber of Commerce's first meeting of the year. Governor Calvo says while we're not in a recession, we're also not in a boom either. He says while he would like to see more growth in the island's economy, there's a lot of uncertainties as well specifically with the federal government.
He said, "We don't know what's exactly going to happen with the federal government. They have milestones that they've got to work towards, regarding the deficit and the ability to deal with the financial situation with the federal government and the national economy. We can't predict what's going to happen with the rest of the world."
Calvo meanwhile says is optimistic of what's happening on Guam - specifically the recent Port modernization projects moving forward, the upcoming groundbreaking for the Guam Museum and the celebrating the best tourism numbers in 15 years.
