22 promoted to the rank of GPD Police Officer II
Promotion offers a sense of fulfillment, achievement, and recognition for hard work and dedication
“Your new rank is not just a reward but an obligation to lead, mentor and inspire others,” Acting Chief of Police Joseph Carbullido told 22 men and women in blue promoted to the rank of Police Officer II recently.
The officers were promoted at the Adelup Large Conference room in front of family, friends and fellow men and women in blue. Carbullido stood before the 22 saying "we celebrate the well deserved promotion who continue to serve the Guam Police Department and community with dedication, bravery, and professionalism."
He went on to say, "A higher rank typically comes with salary increases and enhanced benefits." But beyond pay the promotion offers a sense of fulfillment, achievement, and recognition for the hard work and dedication of the officers. He tells the promoted that the role of a police officer in the community comes with challenges.
"You're all responsible for maintaining public order. Enforcing laws, protecting life and property and preventing crime," he shared.
Carbullido states that this promotion enables experienced officers like them to be placed in roles where they mentor junior officers, provide guidance, and leadership in police operations and ensure department policies are followed correctly. "Your new rank is not just a reward, but an obligation to lead, mentor, and inspire others," he said.
Governor Lou Leon Guerrero told the officers that they have a very noble profession: the profession of serving and protecting the people of Guam.
"Your accomplishments and the recognition of your skills and your leadership and your experience has made very eligible and well deserving of a Peace Police Officer II," the governor announced. "Know this that people are depending on you. Not just the people below you, but the community of Guam."
