Guam - The Guam Federation of Teachers union is reaching out to teachers at their school sites. GFT president Tim Fedenko says GFT staff is visiting schools during lunch hours to speak with teachers on the benefits of joining the union as well as addressing the so-called "Climate of Fear."
Fedenko told KUAM News, "We've also still had reports that there have been teachers who are afraid to file grievances who are in fear of retaliation in a performance evaluation that they have. We've heard some reports that they've been given poor evaluations because they don't do what their supervisor tells them to do. We've only heard this and we want people to come forth and tell us this so we can start the process."
The union is 1,900 members strong to date. Call the GFT office for a schedule of school visits.
