Guam - What should have been a week of special meetings to continue hearing the appeal of Guam Resource Recovery Partners has been postponed. GRRP representative Dave Sablan says GRRP and Guam EPA administrator Eric Palacios agreed to postpone hearings until further notice.

Sablan says GRRP remains optimistic and hopes to use this time to answer Palacios' concerns regarding their permit to operate a landfill in Atantano, Santa Rita. Palacios denied the permit because it failed to meet all the legal requirements including lack of financial assurance, post closure care, and plans for management of leachate.

Meanwhile, Sablan says GRRP is talking with GEDA and the Governor's Office on GRRP's proposal to purchase the Layon landfill for over $100 million to use the site for ash.
