Guam - It was an all-clear for the opening of the newly renovated Oceanview Middle School gym last week but one regulatory agency was left out in the inspection process. According to environmental public health officer Marilou Scroggs, Public Health is required to inspect before the gym can open for student use.

Earlier this week we reported the Department of Public Works signed off on an occupancy permit for the facility following Guam Fire Department's inspection. Scroggs says DPW shouldn't have given the final clearance prior to public health's signoff as any health regulated establishment must be routed to Public Health for review and approval.

The inspection is set for Thursday morning.

As we've been reporting, the gym was condemned in 2001 after a major earthquake.
