Guam - A male minor was taken into custody after leading police on a high speed chase in a stolen vehicle and crashing into a police cruiser and several other cars.  Guam Police Department Spokesperson Officer A.J. Balajadia says the pursuit began just before six o'clock this morning when police were contacted by an individual who said he was following a person who was driving his vehicle that had been stolen.

Hagatna Precinct officers tried to get the driver to pull over near the Pigo Cemetery but the driver made several attempts to crash into a pursuing patrol car and other cars on the road.  The chase continued to the KMart intersection and Balajadia says the driver of the stolen vehicle squeezed between a sedan and tour bus damaging both vehicles. A civilian police reservist crashed into another vehicle while assisting with the pursuit and was taken to the hospital.

Balajadia says the pursuit continued up Marine Corps Drive where the driver crashed through a fence and proceeded up to the Rt.1 & 3 intersection where he was blocked in by several cars.  Officers pulled the non- complying operator out of the running vehicle and another officer got into the car to stop it from crashing into other cars.  Police say the driver of the stolen car is a male minor, possibly 16 or 17 years old.  He will be confined at the Department of Youth Affairs on numerous criminal charges.
