Pangelinan starts at GVB this week
Guam - Tomorrow will mark the first today on the job for the new general manager of the Guam Visitors Bureau. As we reported, the GVB board selected Karl Pangelinan from GEDA to take over after former GM Joann Camacho stepped down in December.
"There are big shoes to fill there at GVB," he said. "They had a banner year in 2012, and that's noted with the visitor arrivals, and I think some of the things that we'll be looking at on the onset is to keep those volume of arrivals coming, there's a potential with the China visa waiver around the corner, we'll see what happens in DC to allow that to happen there are some big things planned for this year I believe it's there 50th anniversary for the bureau and some exciting events surrounding that but more importantly I think it's just stepping up the Guam product and doing our part to build the Guam brand and to build the Guam product so we can be a more attractive destination that we are today."
With Pangelinan leaving the Guam Economic Development Authority, this now leaves the question who is taking over as administrator, today we asked Governor Eddie Calvo that very question. "At the same time, I'm going to be very careful, very deliberate in ensuring that we put someone in there that can continue on the momentum that was built by the former administration," he said.
Calvo says he is still evaluating those possibilities.
