Guam - The Guam Federation of Teachers invites the island to celebrate one of the greatest activists in American history. GFT president Tim Fedenko says Martin Luther King, Jr. served as a voice for the working people, much like the union does today.

"He [Martin Luther King, Jr.] marched with workers when their working conditions were changed and their working conditions were not equal to the other people's right. It's a discrepancy and a union does just that - a union protects workers tries to make it equal for their people so they can have a voice in their work conditions," he explained.

The GFT is hosting the MLK Festival, which is set for 3-8pm on Sunday, January 20 at the GFT compound in Mangilao.
