Guam - The Guam Police Department's Highway Patrol Division has confirmed that speed was a factor in the New Year's Day traffic fatality. 31-year-old Maioro Fred was killed when he ran off the road on Route 9 and slammed into a concrete utility pole.
Investigators say Fred was traveling in excess of 70 miles per hour, but they are still unsure if alcohol was a factor in the crash as they are waiting on toxicology results.
