Guam - Future Generations committee chair Senator Mike San Nicolas met with student leaders at George Washington High School today, looking for input on morale, academics, as well as college and career planning. San Nicolas says he's presently drafting legislation to get parents more involved with their child's education.

He told KUAM News, "What we're looking at is legislation that would encourage more parental involvement in parent teacher conferences and also have more parental involvement in making sure that students are progressing throughout their high school grade levels at the right pace."

GW Student Body Association president Brandon Unpingco appreciated the visited from the freshman senator, saying, "It's his first term as a senator and this is a great move that he made. So I hope that the information we provided him today with students in our school and a general overview of our student campus is useful to him and helps out his office with what they're trying to do with the youth."

San Nicolas will continue his school visits tomorrow at John F. Kennedy High School.
