Guam - Four days have passed since the Guam Election Commission started the handcount of cast ballots from the 2010 general election. The commission is expected to complete the handcount for the legislative race in Precinct 10 in Yona today.
Executive director Maria Pangelinan says everyday the audit team of GEC staff are getting more comfortable with the handcount and expects the next few precincts to go by quicker. "Each precinct should take shorter than a week, we're thinking right now, so maybe anywhere from three to four days per precinct now and it depends," she said.
Once done with the legislative race, the GEC will then proceed with the non-partisan ballots before moving on to the next four precincts. The GEC meanwhile meets tomorrow evening to discuss the progress of the audit.
