Guam - The island recorded its second traffic related fatality of the year this morning. Police and medics were called to an auto pedestrian incident just after 11:30 Wednesday night. Guam Police Department Spokesperson Officer A.J. Balajadia says a man driving a black sports utility vehicle was traveling south on Route 1 in the outer lane by Personal Finance Center when he collided with a pedestrian.

Guam Fire Department Spokesperson Lt. Ed Artero says medics transported the patient to the Guam Memorial Hospital administering CPR en route. GMH Nursing Supervisor Marie Mafnas says the man was brought into the emergency room around 11:45 Wednesday night and was pronounced dead at 12:10 Thursday morning.  She said the man is believed to be in his forties.

Police are not releasing the pedestrian's name at this time pending the notification of next of kin. This marks the second traffic related fatality of the year.
