Guam - Currently challenged with a shortage of personnel, the Guam Fire Department is in the process of starting up a new cycle of firefighters.  15 new fire personnel have been picked up.  Fire Chief Joey San Nicolas confirms the individuals are the same ones who were selected to join the fire department as recruits back in September 2011.  According to news files, the individuals underwent drug testing and were required to get physical examinations and provide police and court clearances but a month later their hiring was suspended due to budget constraints.

"This is the same group this is the first 15 - of the total 30 we are working our hardest to ensure that we can afford to pick up the second set of 15, which I'm confident we can justify with our high attrition rate," said the chief.

San Nicolas adds that the hiring process for 7 new emergency medical dispatchers is currently ongoing.
