Guam - Senator Rory Respicio says now would be an opportune time for Governor Eddie Calvo to convene a meeting of the Guam First Commission. The Advisory Council, which met for the first time last April, hasn't met again since then.  Respicio would like the commission to meet to form a unified position on Congresswoman Madeleine Bordallo's reintroduction of HR-44 or the Guam World War II Loyalty Recognition Act. The new version includes an offset which intends to use Section 30 monies to pay for war claims to the survivors of the Japanese occupation of Guam. Senator Respicio along with Speaker Judi Won Pat, Vice Speaker B.J. Cruz, Senators Michael Duenas and Tom Ada have introduced resolution which rejects Section 30 to be used as a funding source.
