Retirement Fund holding election for board member
The Government of Guam Retirement Fund's board of trustees is looking for any interested active member to fill one of its vacated positions for the next year and a half.
Guam - The Government of Guam Retirement Fund's board of trustees is looking for any interested active member to fill one of its vacated positions for the next year and a half. The Guam Election Commission is conducting the Retirement Fund board member election and according to executive director Maria Pangelinan, the position is for the next year and a half and holds a tremendous amount of responsibility.
She explained, "Any investment over long periods of time, the organization or the company hosting the investment has a fiduciary responsibility to make sure that our interests as insured are protected."
Applications for candidacy are due this Friday by 5pm at the GEC and requires a petition of at least 150 signatures of active employees or members of the Retirement Fund or system. Potential candidates must be an employee of the Government of Guam for at least five years and is a contributing member of the Retirement Fund.
The board position has been vacant since November following the resignation of board member Wilfred Aflague. The election meanwhile is set for February 2 next year.
