Guam – The Supreme Court of Guam affirmed a Superior Court judgment
which sentenced Felix Manibusan George to three concurrent life
sentences behind bars. In 2011, George was convicted of first degree
criminal sexual conduct, second degree criminal sexual conduct and
terrorizing for sexually assaulting a 9 year old girl over a three
year period. He appealed the conviction on the grounds that there was
insufficient evidence to support his convictions in light of the
victim recanting the accusation during trial. The Supreme Court denied
George's motion for judgment of acquittal noting the highly
deferential standard of review of such motions. The high court also
notes although the victim later recanted her testimony, it was not the
province of the court to resolve the conflicts in the evidence or to
pass upon the credibility of the witnesses, as the matter was
ultimately left to the determination of the jury. The court further
determined the prosecution's witnesses provided sufficient evidence to
convict George.

George has two prior cases, one in which he admitted to forcing a 10
year old girl to kiss him on the mouth, while in another case he plead
guilty to inappropriately touching a 12 year old girl. The prosecution
has called George the poster child of all perverts.
