Guam - Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of the island community, many children will have their Christmas wishes fulfilled this year. The Salvation Army's Santa Toy Shop has been open for the last two days.

Salvation Army Captain Mike Lutcher says more than six thousand gifts were collected in the past week. "I just want to say to the community thank you very much they really stepped up they heard we were short on gifts and several companies have donated, but also the individual families who came in to donate blessed my heart," he said.

Meanwhile, Lutcher says it's not too late to help with the annual the red kettle drive that ends monday.

Donations collected so far have exceeded last year's 73 thousand.
