Guam - DOE Deputy Superintendent Rob Malay confirms the department was notified by the Guam Police Department this morning that the individual who made the threat to a staffer at Ordot Chalan Pago Elementary was arrested. DOE officials are meeting this hour to determine whether they will make changes to the school schedule and whether students will return to school for the remainder of the week. Although the Police Department has not released an official comment our sources confirm Rudy Quinata has been linked to the case.

Quinata was arrested on the following charges:

- Terrorizing

- Family Violence

- Use of a Weapon in the Commission of a Felony

- Possession of a Firearm w/o ID

Quinata has a long criminal past including being sentenced to 5 years in prison in 1980 for manslaughter. He escaped from the Department of Corrections in 1985. In 1986 he was found guilty of public intoxication and fined $300. He was arrested in 1987 on charges of reckless conduct, possession of a firearm without an ID, possession of a concealed firearm without an ID, in 1988 and 1989 he was arrested on charges of assault and in 1996 he was arrested on charges of family violence and terrorizing. In 2006 he was arrested and charged with the 1989 murder of Ziola Quinata, but was acquitted in 2008 after a jury found him not guilty.

Quinata allegedly threatened a staff member late last week forcing the school on Monday to be placed on a modified lockdown and classes to be cancelled for the rest of this week.
