Guam - The Guam International Airport Authority's board of directors held a special meeting today approving an award for an airport ambassador program and airport information center to Lima Corporation/Discover Guam. The award was for $180,000 annually with the program featuring multilingual ambassadors who speak Chinese, Japanese and Korean and will assist passengers in filling all required customer entry forms.

Acting chairman Francisco Santos said, "Regarding airport activities and that is the reason why we have this ambassador to give us more information to help also the airport ambassador from the other airlines and other tourism."

Airport general manager Chuck Ada noted the program will provide critical data to the airport along with the Guam Visitors Bureau on traveler information.

Meanwhile, following board chairman Mike Ysrael's resignation last month, Santos says a public hearing will be held on December 27 for the appointment of former Guam Economic Development Administrator Ed Untalan as a member of the airport board. He says if and when Untalan is confirmed the board will meet early next year to nominate and vote for a new chairman.
