New Guam-Taiwan cruise route to bring up to 1,000 more visitors
“Strengthening transportation links between Guam and Taiwan opens the door to greater tourism, trade, and investment opportunities”
A new ocean liner cruise from Kaohsiung, Taiwan is expected to bring up to 1,000 passengers to Guam per voyage. Adelup says the new cruise route between Guam and Taiwan marks a step forward in the island’s efforts to expand tourism opportunities and economic partnerships.
The partnership comes amid an ongoing joint trade and investment mission to Taiwan with the Guam Visitors Bureau, the Guam Economic Development Authority and the Guam International Airport Authority.
Adelup says the Governor Lou Leon Guerrero met with Kaohsiung mayor Chen Chi-Ma during meetings held as part of the mission.
Mayor Chen expressed his commitment to advocating for direct flights between Kaohsiung and Guam through China Airlines. Adelup says it comes on the heels of meetings held on the first day of the mission with officials of China Airlines in Taipei.
The governor said “strengthening transportation links between Guam and Taiwan opens the door to greater tourism, trade, and investment opportunities.”
The Taiwan mission also included talks on potential aquaculture and hydroponic investments in Guam.
Adelup adds a sister-city agreement has also been executed between Guam and Kaohsiung, establishing a framework for continued collaboration in tourism, trade, investment and cultural exchange.
The Taiwan mission continues this week, with officials expected to arrive back to Guam this Wednesday.
