Guam - The Guam International Airport Authority is looking to award a contract for specialty merchandise retail concessions.  Airport executive manager Chuck Ada says Duty Free Shoppers has had the contract for the last decade.  Four proposals were submitted.

"We had a evaluation team established and went through the formal interviews these past couple weeks and so evaluations are being made and we're hopeful to make our recommendations to the board of directors in early 2013," he explained.

Ada says once awarded, the company will have a five-year exclusive contract with another five years - non-exclusive.  The entire deal, he says, will mean more money for the airport and more options for departing passengers. He added, "Obviously, we expect to see more return from the vendor that's selected which would greatly impact our abilities to address some of the challenges that need to be addressed at the airport."
