Guam - The Guam Housing and Urban Renewal Authority was given the green light to spend $30,000 by its board of directors during today's board meeting. Acting director Mike Duenas says the money will be used to conduct a market study for the development of the Santos property in Dededo. He adds they are working with agencies like the Guam Waterworks Authority, Guam EPA and the Historic Preservation Office to conduct an environmental review.

"Between the environmental review and the market study we have a better idea of how we can develop the properties and from a market point of view, what kind of units are going to be attractive," he said.

Duenas says the preliminary options are to use the property for family rental units, or to set aside a portion to develop for elderly housing with the remainder to be used for home ownership.
