No word yet on DOCOMO's acquisition of MCV
The Public Utilities Commission may have approved the Guam Power Authority's rate rollback, but it has yet to decide whether to approve DOCOMO Guam Holdings' purchase of Guam Telecom, LLC, (dba, "MCV Broadband").
Guam - The Public Utilities Commission may have approved the Guam Power Authority's rate rollback, but it has yet to decide whether to approve DOCOMO Guam Holdings' purchase of Guam Telecom, LLC, (dba, "MCV Broadband"). According to PUC legal counsel Fred Horecky, while the administrative law judge report recommends approval by the PUC, the PUC failed to meet quorum during discussion on the telecom purchase during its recent night meeting.
He adds the sale did satisfy the statutory criteria of having the financial, technical and managerial resources to continue to provide telecommunications services along with not being contrary to public interest.
Under the statute, the PUC has 90 days from the September 21 filing date to act. Horecky says the PUC may hold a special meeting to handle the telecom purchase or possibly extend the deadline by an additional 30 days.
