Guam - After beginning construction back in September of last year, the Department of Public Works held a ribbon-cutting ceremony this morning for the completion of the Route 7a Pavement Rehabilitation Project in Hagatna. Outgoing DPW director Joanne Brown says while she's in a period of transition from Public Works to the Port Authority of Guam, the good work of DPW will continue and today's ribbon cutting was only the beginning of what's to come.

She explained, "But I think it's very clear that the success that we have is a very good thing and I think we've shown and demonstrated that we can not only build roads, but we can build them well and we can do them in a timely fashion and ensure there's accountability in the construction and quality of construction."

The project involved pavement resurfacing and reconstruction, storm drainage improvements and installation of new pavement markings from Route 4 through Route 8 in hagatna and Mongmong-Toto-Maite. She adds ribbon cuttings will be held early next year for the Route 4 project, Route 17 in Windward Hills and the Ylig Bridge completion.
