Registration is now open for a free Hunter Safety Education Course offered by Guåhan Sustainable Culture in partnership with the Guam Department of Agriculture's Division of Aquatic and Wildlife Resources.

The comprehensive 8-hour course will be held Saturday, March 7, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the GSC Food Resiliency Hub in Windward Hills, Yona.

Led by DAWR-certified volunteer instructors, the training is open to participants 13 years and older and will cover firearm and archery safety, hunting laws and regulations, ethical hunting practices, wildlife conservation and land stewardship, and proper game handling and field care.

Organizers say the course is part of the Ginen I Halom Tåno’ program, which focuses on ethical feral pig management and strengthening local food resilience. Upon completion, participants will be eligible to join monthly mentored hunts through April, where experienced staff and volunteers provide hands-on guidance in real hunting situations.

Registration is available at www.gusustainable.org/events. Organizers note space is limited.
